I was born in and currently live in Calgary, Alberta.
I am a lawyer, so I spend a lot of time in the office.
I spend most of my free time training or watching Netflix.
2) How many years have you been training?
I have been training for four and half years.
3) Whats been the most challenging/hardest part of your journey so far? and how have you overcome them (set backs, rejections, injuries, basically anything difficult that you have had to overcome)
The most challenging part of my journey has been the transition from student, when my time was flexible to accommodate lots of training, to full time athlete, where my schedule was extremely accommodating, to having a real job and struggling to get in minimal amounts of training sessions. I am still trying to adjust.
4) What does your typical workout/diet routine look like?
I train 5-7 times per week.
I stick to a strict diet with the exception of one chocolate type treat after lunch each day. M2Performance sets my macros depending on how I am feeling in the gym and at work, how I am sleeping and how my appetite is.
5) What new knowledge have you learned over this past year regarding training, lifestyle and nutrition?
It is a constant and unrelenting balancing act. The goal is to find time for everything without compromising anything.
I have also learned that relaxing is not a waste of time, it is a necessity that allows me to focus better when I am not relaxing.
6) Whats your favourite cheat/Treat meal?
M&M's or Cadbury Mini Eggs or sweet potato fries with spicy aioli dip.
7) one supplement that you could not live without?
@nova3labs Max Perform - the best BCAA/Pre-workout supplement ever.
Use code: PARKER to try it out!
8) If you had to start out from scratch with your physique what would you do differently and why?
Nothing, I am proud of the way my body has developed.
9) Who do you look up to in the fitness industry and why?
I look up to a variety of people in different ways.
I respect someone like Julie Foucher who has managed to take a step back to pursue other goals, but I also respect people like Emily Abbott who has put her whole life on hold in a sense to pursue their dreams in Crossfit and sport.
The beauty of Crossfit is that there are many different people, living many different lives who find success in it. And success can mean something different to everyone.
10) If you had to give one bit of advice to people starting out what would that be?
Learning proper movement mechanics is key to avoiding injury and success in the sport and in life. Take the time to learn it early on so you don't have the difficult job of breaking bad habits in the future. Find the right gym with the best coaching to help you do that.
11) What new goals are on the horizon?
Continue to enjoy and improve in Crossfit, continue to compete at a high level, and find success in the field of law.
But more than anything, find huappiness and balance in my life.
12) Where can people find you? (website, social media accounts)
