1) Who is Amber Casciano? (where are you from, what do you do, a bit about yourself (hobbies, etc)
I’m from Atlanta, GA, a competitive weightlifter and full time hairdresser. I’ve been an athlete my entire life, but only recently started competing in the sport of Olympic Weightlifting. Besides lifting weights and doing hair, I spend the rest of my time staring at my cats or watching How I Met Your Mother.
2) How many years have you been training?
I’ve been training consistently for 2 years.
3) Whats been the most challenging/hardest part of your journey so far? and how have you overcome them (set backs, rejections, injuries, basically anything difficult that you have had to overcome)
The toughest thing I deal with is comparing my journey to other people’s. I have to remind myself that I’m still learning and to trust the process.
4) What does your typical workout/diet routine look like?
On a typical day in the gym I always start out with my activation routines specifically for what my body needs, and does some variation of one or both of the olympic lifts. That could be anything from complexes to technique drills followed by the full lift. I always do some type of pull and press as well at various other asscesory work..ie. some type of core exercise, body building work, and more stability excdersices ( i’m hyper mobile so Stability is more crucial for me). Diet wise, well, I was never a good or healthy eater, but now I’ve been fortunate enough to become an athletes of Fia’s Fresh Meals so I eat so much more and better now thanks to them!!
5) What new knowledge have you learned over this past year regarding training, lifestyle and nutrition?
The biggest thing I’ve learned this past year is to trust the process, eat enough food, sleep a lot, and HAVE FUN!
6) Whats your favourite cheat/Treat meal?
Mac and cheese 100%
7) Whats one supplement that you could not live without?
I’m not a big supplement person, but I know I couldn’t live without my daily probiotics and turmeric capsules. I never feel right when I forget to take those.
8) If you had to start your Journey from scratch with your health& physique what would you do differently and why?
Yes, I would’ve continued my athletic journey after high school, but since I have started back in the strength and fitness world a little bit later I make sure I don’t make silly mistakes younger me would have.
9) Who do you look upto in the fitness industry and why?
There are a few women I look up to for inspiration and drive to keep working. Of course the infamous Mattie Rogers, but I also always find that excitement from Hunter Elam, Quiana Welch, and Alex LaChance. They’re all so strong in their own ways and on top of that amazing women on their own!!
10) If you had to give one bit of advice to people starting out what would that be?
Don’t give up, everything is going to hurt, and it’s SO MUCH FUN!
11) What new goals do you have on the horizon?
I want to get my USAW Level 1 cert this year.
12) Where can people find you? (website, social media accounts)
