1) Who is Virginie Rousseau? (where are you from, what do you do, a bit about yourself (hobbies, etc)
Hello, I’m Virginie Rousseau. I’m french and I’m 41. I’m married for 12 years now with Cyril, we have a son Tristan who is 14 years old and I’m a coach.
I love cinema, skying, paddle and sharing precious moments with my family and my friends cause...life is too short π€
2) How many years have you been training?
I was training in body buildingfor 14 years when I met crossfit. Now I’m training crossfit since 2011 and competing since 2012. My first competition was Open 2012.
3) Whats been the most challenging/hardest part of your journey so far? and how have you overcome them (set backs, rejections, injuries, basically anything difficult that you have had to overcome)
The hardest part of my journey was when my dad died 4 years ago in a domestic accident. This was so hard for me because he’s my hero and it’s very difficult to face this loss. But since I lost him, I’m not the same. Never do tomorrow what you can do today. I live my life the fastest I can and I fight everyday in training or life to make him the pridest I can.
4) What does your typical workout/diet routine look like?
I wake up at 7:00 to get breakfast with my son (precious family moments ❤️) I get him to school and I go to training since 12:00 then I coach and go back home to get my son back home.
Then we go to the beach or shopping or no matter what π
Concerning my diet, I tried to have a balanced one as much as I can but my first rule is no frustration. I had so much with body fitness so no more with crossfitπ
5) What new knowledge have you learned over this past year regarding training, lifestyle and nutrition?
As I’m a master athlete for a few years now, the new for me is to realise how sleep and food are crucial in recovery and performance.
That’s why I try to sleep at least 7 or 8 hours a night and have a balanced diet as much as I can.
6) Whats your favourite cheat/Treat meal?
My favourite cheat meal is... PIZZA!! πππ
7) Whats one supplement that you could not live without?
The only one is Omega 3 because I’m not fan of fish so I need to get some to balance against omega 6 in food.
8) If you had to start your Journey from scratch with your health & physique what would you do differently and why?
The only thing might be that I would have started crossfit sooner because when I started crossfit I realise that even with body fitness, I have no mobility, no velocity and strength to manage my own bodyweight.
9) Who do you look upto in the fitness industry and why?
I look upto nobody, I live my own fitness life. The key word is « pleasure »!
10) If you had to give one bit of advice to people starting out what would that be?
Dont give up even when it’s hard because the hardest you fight, the proudest you are.
Second advice, take the time to learn. Dont skip steps. Fitness is first about health not about performance.
11) What new goals do you have on the horizon?
My new goals, as I am master now, is to reach qualifiers 2019 π
