1) Who is Claire Johnson? (where are you from, what do you do, a bit about yourself (hobbies, etc)
I’m originally from skegness in the United Kingdom and then moved to Birmingham over 10 years ago (originally for my studies, but then I ended up staying).
At university I studied my masters in nursing and now work as a specialist Nurse in organ donation.
Hobbies would include training, scuba diving, spending time with friends and family. Just being happy and making the most of life.
2) How many years have you been training?
Specifically for bodybuilding I have been training 14 months. Prior to this, I was a triathlete, runner, and before this I was also boxing.
From a very young age I was a dancer, and then went Into athletics. I also played county football and netball for Lincolnshire.
3) Whats been the most challenging/hardest part of your journey so far? and how have you overcome them (set backs, rejections, injuries, basically anything difficult that you have had to overcome)
I can’t specifically say anything has been a challenge or hard, as I thrive off this. Completely changing my relationship with food has been a definite positive, but was very difficult initially.
There always appears to be something that goes wrong during prep. My very first prep, I pulled my back out, but literally had to keep going. I guess it depends how much you want it.
4) What does your typical workout/diet routine look like?
I train 5-6 days a week at the minute. Fasted Cardio on alternate days for 30
Mins. But I’m sure as the weeks countdown to my competition, that this will be going up.
5) What new knowledge have you learned over this past year regarding training, lifestyle and nutrition?
I do feel like a sponge..... I have gained so much knowledge and love sharing this with people!
Diet. Training. When to eat.
Getting that happy balance
And of course learning about myself and how my mind works... and how I can trick myself in regards to food
6) Whats your favourite cheat/Treat meal?
Favourite treat... a packet of cookies!
7) Whats one supplement that you could not live without?
BCAA’s They make water so much more bearable... but again. They will soon be taken off me.
8) If you had to start your Journey from scratch with your health & physique what would you do differently and why?
I would have started bodybuilding earlier...but then maybe my body wouldn’t have responded so well.
9) Who do you look upto in the fitness industry and why?
There are so many role models out there. My coach, Troy hemus, and all of swench gang are a massive inspiration and are totally dedicated to their passion.
I like the fact that I can be strong and muscular, but maintain femininity. So therefore Donna Murphy was a massive inspiration for me when starting out.
10) If you had to give one bit of advice to people starting out what would that be?
Take it step by step. There’s no rush. It’s about adapting your life to something that is maintainable. Consistency brings great results.
11) What new goals do you have on the horizon?
So this year I am off to compete in the Arnold’s in Barcelona, and then got the British finals for ukbff. Other than that, I haven’t thought much further ahead
