12 Questions With “The Peaceful Warrior” Scott McGee

1) Who is Scott McGee? (where are you from, what do you do, a bit about yourself (hobbies, etc)

A good person, family man, friend, thinker, guardian, and a peaceful warrior with an open mind and unconquerable soul who happens to write and podcast.

2) How many years have you been training?

Not enough.

3) Whats been the most challenging/hardest part of your journey so far? and how have you overcome them (set backs, rejections, injuries, basically anything difficult that you have had to overcome)

I think the challenging/hardest parts are the ones that give you the most strength. You just need to realize that the choice is yours. We can either accept or resent our circumstances. Choosing to accept leads to ownership. Admitting that the set back or adversity was based on something you did or did not do, means there is something you can still do. Strength is a choice.

If you focus on the pain you will suffer in pity. If you focus on the lesson, you will grow stronger. Its up to you. That is how I choose to overcome adversity.

4) What does your typical workout/diet routine look like?

The application defines this. I train to live, not live to train. I make sure I’m always ready for what is expected of me. So my training isn’t fancy. I look for short and effective doses. Like my buddy Tommy Hackenbruck said, “You don’t need harder workouts. You need to go harder in your workouts.”

5) What new knowledge have you learned over this past year regarding training, lifestyle and nutrition?

I don’t need long warm-ups. I don’t need a clock to go hard. Missing a day or two is not a bad thing. Stressing about it is. Less is more. Health is wealth. Movement is a gift.

6) Whats your favourite cheat/Treat meal?

I’m a professional cheeseburger eater, so that can’t count. So chocolate chip cookies it is!

7) one supplement that you could not live without?

Caffeine. I love coffee.

8) If you had to start out from scratch with your physique what would you do differently and why?

Mobilize to keep the integrity of how my body is supposed to move.

9) Who do you look up to in the fitness industry and why?

Jack Lalanne because he knew that anything in life is possible if you make it happen. He was a direct communicator and made people believe in their inner strength. He also said a favorite quote of mine: “It’s not what you do some of the time that counts, it’s what you do all of the time that counts.”

10) If you had to give one bit of advice to people starting out what would that be?

You don’t need powder in a bottle. Gratitude and appreciation are a better supplement. Picture you are 85 years old. Now picture you got the chance to go back in time to your body as it is now. What would you do with it? How much fun would you have? Enjoy it!

11) What new goals are on the horizon?

Continue to learn the beautiful art of jiu jitsu, start a non-profit, enjoy my kids, be of service, read, and help bring some light where some people think there is none.

12) Where can people find you? (website, social media accounts)
