12 Questions With CrossFit Athlete Carol-Ann Reason-Thibault

1) Who is Carol-Ann Reason-Thibault? (where are you from, what do you do, a bit about yourself (hobbies, etc)

Im 32 years old and I am from Quebec city. When I am not training i enjoy spending time with my family and getting some good rest. I have a 10 year old dog named Angel and she is my best friend. My favorite activity is, by far, my weekly swimming class with my godson. We started together when he was two months old,  He will be one next month.

2) How many years have you been training? (Including how you got started, etc)

I started Crossfit on July 2012. It was a love at first sight for me. I am a former boxer and I also played a lot of soccer, hockey and Basketball. I started Crossfit because of my sister. She is the one who took me to my very first class. I dont know what I liked more, Crossfit or training with my sister ;)

3) Whats been the most challenging/hardest part of your journey so far? and how have you overcome them (set backs, rejections, injuries, basically anything difficult that you have had to overcome)

I would say my knee injury last year. I had some injuries in the past but last year I was unable to squat for about 2 and a half months and it was getting worse and worse during the Open. I was scared that I wouldn’t be able to finish it. I have some amazing people around me and I managed to get over it stronger mentally than before.

4) What does your typical workout/diet routine look like? (With any particular protocols you rate).

Im following macros and I’m actually on a “kinda” AIP diet. We avoid all food that can cause inflammation in my body. It helps with my joints a lot. I have nutrition coach who i have 100% trust in him. His name is Mike Molloy from m2 performance nutrition.

5) What new knowledge have you learned over this past year regarding training, lifestyle and nutrition? (And How has it changed your focus for the future).

I wont say im working harder (because I think i always did) but im definitely training smarter. Taking more rest time and listening more to my body. On nutrition side i learned that i cant ask my body to support my training regimen if im not doing it all the foods he needs. Not always easy to eat that much.

6) Whats your favourite cheat/Treat meal?

I would say that a perfect day for me will have pancakes and Poke Bol.

7) Whats one supplement that you could not live without?

I would say CBD oil from Wod recovery RX and Carbs supplements from Novative Lab.

8) If you had to start your Journey from scratch with both your health & physique what would you do differently and why?

I would definitely rest more from the beginning of my training journey. I used to workout everyday without never allowing me some rest day and i was a huge mistake.

9) Who do you look upto in the fitness industry and why?

On the Crossfit side i like Sara Sigmundsdottir as an athlete and person.

10) If you had to give one bit of advice to people starting out what would that be?

Enjoy group class. This is the best way to have good coaching really quick and to push yourself with others. If you want to do more, or be more competitive find a good coach that cares as much as you and with who you have a good communication.

11) What new goals do you have on the horizon?

I am looming forward to my 2020 Crossfit season with 3 sanctionals and the Crossfit Games. My goal will be to do my very best and to believe in me in every event.

12) Where can people find you? (website, social media accounts)
