12 Questions With Professional Boxer Lucy Wildheart

1) Who is  Lucy Wildheart? (where are you from, what do you do, a bit about yourself (hobbies, etc)

I'm an England based Swede pursuing a career as a professional boxer. I train boxing out of Churchill's Boxing Gym in London with Samm Mullins. I also train at Two Tails CrossFit in Wickford.

I am an IBO Inter-Continental Champion and I am ranked 6/7th in the World. #2 (IBF). I have a great record of 8-1 (4KO).

I was born with a competitive mindset. Everything I do has a purpose to become a better athlete and person.

I don't have many hobbies as I put my focus towards my career, but I have two rescue dogs I love and spend a lot of time with. My partner and I usually take them out on runs, country side walks etc.

2) How many years have you been training? (Including how you got started, etc)

I have trained continuously since I was 9y of age, Karate, Martial Arts, gymnastics and dancing.

I Started boxing at the age of 20. I walked in a boxing gym one day and I fell in love with it. Complementary to my boxing training I have trained weightlifting, Olympic lifting and CrossFit for many years.

I am competing in CrossFit alongside Boxing at times when I don't have a fight scheduled. It keeps me on my toes with fitness.

3) Whats been the most challenging/hardest part of your journey so far? and how have you overcome them (set backs, rejections, injuries, basically anything difficult that you have had to overcome)

Training and fighting is the easy part of boxing. The Boxing business is the difficult part.

I think my most challenging past has been times when I worked as little as possible (or struggled badly with money) to be able to train as much as possible. Living on crackers and tuna to pursue dreams. Running in worn out runners and trying not to get injured... Things like that. I've always wished to get a big sponsor to help and follow me through my journey.

4) What does your typical workout/diet routine look like? (With any particular protocols you rate).

On a regular basis I train approx 10-11 sessions a week, 4-5 times of boxing which those sessions are 2h long. The other sessions involves Strength, CrossFit and running. I usually do my boxing in the morning and the other in the afternoon.

I travel in total about 4h a day to the gyms I am at.

My diet, I track and count everything, usually focus my diet on carbs, like bread, potato, rice and vegetables. Keeping my fat low and protein steady. I eat most of my food in the evening after all my sessions as I train best when I am hungry. If I have to lose weight, I just reduce my calories and increase activity.

5) What new knowledge have you learned over this past year regarding training, lifestyle and nutrition? (And How has it changed your focus for the future)

Being happy makes you training better, training better makes you the best.

6) Whats your favourite cheat/Treat meal?

You won't see me have a bad cheat meal more than 3-4 times a year. But when you do, it would probably be a chicken kebab with a hell lot of garlic bread to it and super hot chilli sauce, washed down with a bottle of wine!

7) Whats one supplement that you could not live without?

Setyl CBD Oil! Changed my life by sleeping better !!

8) If you had to start your Journey from scratch with both your health & physique what would you do differently and why?

I would have moved to England earlier and found my wonderful trainer Samm.

I would have loved to start CrossFit sooner.
Other than that, I've been around and I've seen and tried so many different strategies (both fitness and boxing) and it has made me experienced. Now I know what I like and how to get the best out of myself.

9) Who do you look upto in the fitness industry and why?

Tia-Toomey (5-times CrossFit Games Champion) everyday the week. Being able to accomplish the much as she has done, being an all around athlete who brings the challenge to her and finishing on top. At same time with a smile on her face. I'd love to meet her.

10) If you had to give one bit of advice to people starting out what would that be?

Be one with yourself and make sure you are ready for the worse case scenario. Are you ready to go agains the norm and people's opinions to reach your goals? Are you prepared to be hurt multiple times and not quit? Are you resilient? Do you have passion for your sport? If not don't bother. You'll need it :)
